Illinois Firearms Owners Identification (FOID) Card Application Assistance

Notice: Due to the nature of the account recovery process, we may be unable to complete your application without a second visit or a call to the Firearm Services Bureau. For more information, read below or give us a call at (815) 845-1011.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) no longer accepts paper applications for Firearms Owners Identification cards (FOID card or GUN card). The process now requires an online account with the ISP, electronic submission, and credit card payment. This account is also used for Illinois Concealed Carry License applications and renewals, so keep a record of your username and password.

The FOID application can be complicated and time-consuming. We are trained to make the process easier. FOID applications are done during normal store hours; no appointment is needed.

FOID Address Change: $19.95

Additional Requirements for Applicants Under 21:

• Must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
• Must have a current State ID or Driver's License
• Parent/legal guardian must have a valid FOID card or be eligible for one
• Legal guardians must provide proof of guardianship
• Notarized signature required (we provide notary service for $5.00)

Non-US Citizens: Must provide proof of legal residency.

Expired FOID Cards: Some applicants with expired FOID cards may need to wait 72 hours between starting and completing the application.

FOID and FCCL Renewals: Renew your FOID and/or FCCL card before it expires to remain valid. If you submit a renewal application after expiration, your card will be temporarily reset to valid while the application is processed (unless it is subject to revocation).
