The Illinois State Police (ISP) no longer accepts traditional paper applications for Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) cards. The modern process requires a fully digital online ISP portal profile, electronic document submission, and credit card verification processing.
Because this same account infrastructure manages **Illinois Concealed Carry License (CCL)** applications, tracking data, and structural renewals, maintaining exact records of your profile credentials is critical.

What to Bring
- Your current, valid Illinois Driver's License or official State ID Card.
- Your current login credentials (if you have an existing ISP web portal account).
- Proof of legal residency (Required for non-US citizens).
Applicants Under the Age of 21
Per state regulations, gun owners applying under the age of 21 must fulfill these additional strict criteria:
- Must be accompanied in-store by a parent or legal guardian.
- Must possess a valid Illinois Driver's License or State ID.
- The accompanying parent/guardian must possess an active, valid FOID card (or be fully eligible to hold one).
- Legal guardians must bring official physical documentation proving legal guardianship.
- A notarized signature is required on the state parent sponsor affidavit.
(We provide on-site notary support for an additional $5 fee).
Important Renewal & Expiration Rules
- Keep Items Valid: Always submit renewal entries before your expiration window drops to guarantee seamless structural compliance. If you submit a renewal application before expiration, your card remains valid while the state background check finishes.
- Expired Status Delay: Certain applicants attempting to reactivate an expired profile may be subject to a state-enforced 72-hour system lockout delay between account recovery initialization and final submission.
- Combined FOID/CCL Cards: Following recent state changes, if you hold an active Illinois Concealed Carry License, the ISP automatically syncs your credentials onto a single tracking profile card.
Once processing is complete, we will provide you with an itemized printed receipt containing your verified ISP system portal login credentials for your personal records.
