How to Buy a Gun Online: A Step-by-Step Guide

This guide explains how to buy a firearm online through Stagecoach Shootin' Irons. Important Note: We can only ship your gun to a licensed dealer, so be sure to follow these steps carefully.

Before You Buy:

• Check Your Local Laws: Always confirm local and state laws before purchasing a firearm.
• Age Requirements: You must be at least 21 years old to buy a handgun, Pistol, Revolver, stockless shotgun, or stripped lower receiver.
• Residency: You must be a legal resident of the state where you want the gun transferred (except active military).
• Straw Purchases are Illegal: Buying a gun for someone else is a crime.

Steps to Buying Online:

Find an FFL Dealer:

This is the licensed dealer who will receive your gun, complete the background check, and transfer it to you.

• Search online or contact Stagecoach Shootin' Irons for recommendations.
• Contact your chosen FFL dealer and let them know you want them to receive a transfer from Stagecoach.
• Get their contact information and FFL license copy.
• Ask about their transfer fee (covers background check).

Choose Your Firearm:

Browse Stagecoach Shootin' Irons' selection and add your chosen firearm to your cart.

Complete Your Purchase:

• Create an account or log in (if you have one).
• Select your FFL dealer as the shipping address during checkout.
• Review your order and confirm all details are correct.
• Submit your order.

Pick Up Your Firearm:

• Stagecoach Shootin' Irons will provide tracking information for your order.
• Once it arrives at your FFL dealer, contact them to arrange a pickup time.

Background Check and Transfer:

At the FFL dealer, you will complete a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Form 4473 and undergo a background check through the National Instant Criminal Background System (NICS). There is usually a small fee set by the transferring store for this process. This is the same process as buying a gun from a physical store.

Once you pass the background check, you can take your firearm home!
